Steven and Marc’s screams at the very end will tell you all you need to know. What could possibly be more disturbing than wondering through a hospital where everything seems to be a reminder of everything that’s happened leading up to being shot? As they attempt to flee, they pass by another sarcophagus, again hinting at a third unknown personality within Steven and Marc’s body, but they let it go. Oscar Isaac plays both roles right in front of our eyes and it’s an incredible moment. It all comes together in such a unique way where Marc attempts to escape, but finds Steven locked away in a sarcophagus. Was it all a dream? Is the hospital an illusion? In a scene similar to Raiders of the Lost Ark, fans watch a dream sequence play out before realizing Marc has awoken in the sterile confines of a psychiatric hospital. The trajectory of the storyline twists as viewers find themselves somewhere else entirely.
Our hero falls back into the tomb’s surrounding pool and his body sinks to the endless depths. It’s shocking, but it gets worse as the gun is raised again and the trigger is pulled once more. Harrow pulls out a gun and shoots him in the chest. Marc kills a few people before the unthinkable happens. Although he’s offered a chance to step aside and be free, it was never really a viable option. Harrow and his disciples enter the room to find Marc wielding a golden axe. The realization her father was killed in some way because of Marc is devastating, but it doesn’t end there. Despite all appearances, Layla states the obvious, “But you brought a killer right to him.” Along with killing the other archeologists, including Layla’s father, Marc was shot and left for dead too. Marc admits to being there and being betrayed by his mercenary partner. Harrow’s finger-pointing works, causing Layla to confront Marc about her father’s death. If they can prevent Harrow from getting it, they can prevent the ancient god from reappearing and ending the lives of those who have yet to do evil. The whole point of this adventurous race between them and Harrow is to find the artifact that will raise Ammit from the dead. As he’s trying to put a wedge between the married couple, Steven finds the lost resting place of Alexander the Great.
This gives us insight into Layla’s father’s death as Harrow confronts her and points the finger towards Marc. Moon Knight episode 4 gives us a period where Layla and Steven are separated. She’s such a great character, so it’s important to know she can fend off demonic relics and get out of sticky situations on her own.
The thought of pulling myself up from my fingertips is laughable at best, but to watch Layla do it is such a relief. The monster tries to overwhelm her with strength, but Layla perseveres and tosses it (and herself) over the edge into a massive chasm. She bursts through the cavern with the creature’s broken-off arm in her hands. Fans will see Layla breach the darkness once trying to escape before being pulled back in. This is the moment in a horror movie when you know a character is gone for good. This ancient Egyptian monster comes after Layla and fans witness as Layla is pulled back into darkness. Let’s just say, “Thank you, creators,” for blurring out those sequences, because the thought of dropping internal organs into jars is literally quite jarring to imagine, let alone see.īack to Layla’s awesomeness.
As they explore the tomb’s labyrinth, they encounter an otherworldly being who’s dismembering a person in the same room they’re trying to hide in. Although he’s not a fighter, it’s clear that Layla is a dominant one. Without Khonshu’s powers, Steven is hoping to rely on Marc’s “muscle memory” to get out of sticky situations. Moon Knight episode 4 goes on an Indiana Jones-like adventure with a dash of The Mummy Steven is lucky to have such a valuable partner and she quickly handles the problem before they continue onto the tomb. She quite literally rolls an unconscious Steven down a desert hill as bullets fly from an approaching truck. Layla does most of the heavy lifting early in this episode.
